Pilgrimage To Nobility Continued....

The Orders
Aethelmearc is truly blessed with so many talented people. The Great Orders of Excellence we will call upon for this Enterprise will be: The Order of the Laurel, The Oder of the Pelican, The Order of Chivalry, The Royal Peerage, The Order of the White Scarf, The Order of the Scarlet Guard and The Order of the White Horn. Here the Populace will come to know more about those who have achieved a level of Excellence in their chosen area of interest.

Each named Orders will be asked to work together to come up with a badge that can be affixed to a mantled hood. The design and make of this badge can be as simple or elaborate as you would like. The Orders will also be asked to discuss some sort of presentation for the “Order Meeting”/Forum. And also designate a children’s activity coordinator to ensure that the Children’s class is sufficient and based on the activities of the Order.

With the assistance of each order, we will call a Pilgrimage to Nobility for the populace of the Kingdom. On this journey each order has the opportunity to share what it is that makes your craft, art, activity, role and contribution special in history and in our Society now. We also ask that you emphasize that the things that the children learn in the Society are not only ideals to be practiced here, but in everyday life.

Practical Application

The Pilgrimage would have 6 stations along the journey. Each will be a Royal Progress event. Each would have a time set aside where in the children would gather for an activity or series of activities focused on and run by one of the Orders of Excellence. Each order would present a period of teaching for the children of the Kingdom. How you present that time is entirely in the hands of the Order. We ask that there be 5 basic components:

  1. Summarize the nature of your order – What do you do? How do you do it? Why did you and your membership choose this activity as your field of expertise?
  2. Historical application – How your area of expertise was applied by your medieval counterparts and its role in these “Current Middle Ages”
  3. Exercise and Experience – Give the students a chance to experience what you do through hands on activities of some sort.
  4. Modern day application – How can what you learn in your area of expertise help improve their lives in the mundane world?
  5. The Pilgrimage Badge – Here you will have the opportunity to give something to those who made the trip and took the time to participate with you. This is for those who aspire and those hoe dream, just as we all do, about the Nobility found in the SCA
