Vikings on the River

Report of the Court of Their Majesties Henri et Elena, Roi et Reine d’Aethelmearc, from Vikings on the River held in the Shire of Riversedge on the 14th day of November a.s. 44, THL Brandubh Ó Donnghaile, Silver Buccle.

Morning Court.

Their Majesties invited Viscountess Rannveigr Haakonardottir to attend Them.  They questioned her if she was ready to sit Vigil to contemplate elevation to the Most Noble Order of the Laurel.  They then summoned the Companions of the Order of the Laurel to come and take the lady off to her vigil.

Evening Court.

Their Majesties invited Baron Stevan Ulfkellson to enter Their court and address the populace.  Baron Stevan spoke of many contests that day and awarded prizes and Certificates to Earl EikBrandr Solgyafi Naeturaudi for being voted the best dressed Viking Man, and to Lady Ranveig Snorradottir for being voted the best dressed Viking Woman.  He also presented prizes and certificates to Sir Graedwynn mab Teyrnon for winning the Viking Trivia Challenge.  Earl EikBrandr Solgyafi Naeturaudi proved the victor in the Holmgangr tourney, and was presented with a chest made by Baron Stevan and beads from Their Majesties.  Sir Magariki Katsuichi no Koredono was also presented with Beads and a chest for winning the Viking Longship Captain Tourney.

Their Majesties invited Baroness Marci of Hadley to join Baron Stevan and Both were presented with beads by Their Majesties in thanks for their efforts as autocrat and cook for the event.

Their Majesties then invited the youth present to seek out Baroness Marci and charged her with a chest full of toys.

Their Majesties invited Sergeant Bernard and Lady Eva to approach the thrones.  They thanked them for travelling from the Middle Kingdom with His Excellency, Earl EikBrandr, to join in the festivities of the day, and presented both of them with strings of beads.

Lady Alana MacLeland was called forward and presented with the scroll commemorating her award of arms that had been given by Their Majesties Christopher and Maurya.  Scroll limned by Lady Pavla de la Satu Mare, calligraphy by THL Cadell Blaidd du.

Their Majesties inducted Lord Galfrid atte Grene in to the Order of the Golden Alce for his skills in heavy weapons in absentia.  Scroll limned by Brother Donald na Namus, calligraphy by Sarah Little.

Sir Hrothgeirr Ivarsson was called into court and Inducted into the Order of the Sycamore for his skills in wood working, teaching the arts of crafting wood, making baskets ans always giving helpful advice on projects.  Scroll limned by Fru Ellisif of the Endless Hills, calligraphy by Maestra Gianna di Aurelio upon a text by His Majesty Henri d’Artois.

Their Majesties called Lady Aelfgifu of the Glen to attend Them.  They thanked her for clothing them in fine Viking style for this event and inducted her as a royal tailor with a gift of beads.

Lord Angus MacDubh was commanded to join his Lady Aelfgifu before Their Majesties’ court, and both were inducted into the Noble Order of the Keystone for service to the Kingdom, crown and shire as autocrats, officers, guard and retainer.  Scrolls in progress by Duchess Angelik Chastellain de Beauvais.

Their Majesties called forward Lord Rodrigo de Vega and Lady Rynea von Ingen of Stromsport.  His Majesty wished to thank them for all their support to him and his household, and called forward the Company of the Northern Cross to witness.  Both of these fine gentles had served His Majesty for years and were instrumental in the founding of the Company of the Northern Cross, and on this day Their Majesties created Rodrigo and Rynea a baron and Baroness of the court and granted each arms.  Promissory scroll limned by Lady Deianeira Rodriguez y Aragones upon a text by His Majesty Henri d’Artois.

Viscountess Rannveigr Haakonardottir was invited forward.  Their Majesties asked her if she had received counsel from her peers and the populace and was prepared to proceed, and she gave her assent.  Their Majesties called forward the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Laurel and questioned them if they were now ready for her to join their numbers, and they affirmed it was so.  Their Majesties then called for witnesses to speak for Viscountess Rannveigr.  Countess Aidan ni Lier spoke as a royal peer, Syr Bear the Wallsbane spoke as a Knight, Mistress Elisabeth Johanna von Flossenburg spoke as a Mistress of the Laurel and Mistress Orianna Fridrikskona spoke as a Mistress of the Pelican.  Their Majesties heard this good counsel and were moved to create Rannveigr a Mistress of the Laurel and called for Regalia for her new station.  Baroness Vlksha Iakovleva presented a cloak made by the hand of Mistress Elisabeth Johanna von Flossenburg, Viscount Alexander Caithnes of Wyk presented a medallion of a laurel wreath of purest gold, and Lady Alexandra Caithnes presented a wreath of laurel leaves to crown her head.  Their Majesties had Rannveigr reaffirm her oath of fealty to the kingdom, and then presented her to the populace as Viscountess Rannveigr, Mistress of the Laurel.  Scroll by Lady Marija Kotok.

Their Majesties addressed the populace and thanked them all for coming and sharing their knowledge, enjoying the good food and tales of the hunt that brought it there.  They thanked everyone for sharing in the dream and that it had been a pleasure for Them to help sharing the Viking dream.
